Under the guidance of Maki Riddington, I was able to capture first place in the 2002/2003 BC Summer Open Power Lifting Championships for the 75 kg, sub juniors male division. Three months prior to the event, Maki put together an in-depth power lifting routine specifically designed to increase my strength and reach peak performance by the time of the championships. A month before the tournament, I suffered a rotator cuff injury due to an accident in the gym. Fortunately, with Maki's expertise, we were able to improvise with a series of rehabilitation exercises that allowed me to recover within two short weeks and he provided me with a new routine to counter the circumstances of the injury so I would be in top form by the time of the championships. He thoroughly answered any questions or concerns that came up during my training and did so in a caring and comprehensible manner."
