Ageless Xtra

I’m not one to push supplements upon people. I’m also a pretty big skeptic when it comes to buying into the claims made by a lot of these companies about their products. However, after talking with one of my clients who absolutely raved about this product, I finally gave in and tried it.

After just a week I became a believer. In the next Maki Performance E-Blast I will go into more detail about this product and what it can do for you.

Fit Bits :

Fit bits are pieces of information pertaining to the fitness industry which I have found to be quite interesting, humorous or just plain ridiculous.

Reinvent Your Life

Here’s an inspirational story about Terence Haynes who lost over 200 pounds and changed his life. He stopped making excuses, got to work and made his dreams a reality.  During his weight-loss journey he went back to school and competed as a collegiate wrestler all at the age of 45.

Change is for everybody. Don’t let yourself believe it’s too late to change.

Power Food

The latest studies show Organic Coconut Oil to be quite healthful.

Coconut oil:

• This oil is good for the immune system. It strengthens the system because it contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties.

• Improves insulin sensitivity (this aids in allowing the body to burn body-fat more efficiently)

• Aids in healthy hair-growth (and a shiny complexion)

•  Coconut oil assists the digestive system, and prevents various stomach and digestion- related problems including irritable bowel syndrome. The saturated fats present in coconut oil have anti microbial properties that deal with various bacteria, fungi, parasites, etc., which cause indigestion. Coconut oil also helps in the absorption of   nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids

• Helps stimulate the metabolism by burning fat to produce body heat

Unlike other oils, cooking with coconut oil won’t destroy any of its healthful properties.

Coconut oil is often preferred by athletes and prople who are on diets. The reason for this is that it contains less calories than other oils. Its fat content is easily converted into energy and does not lead to the accumulation of fat in the heart and arteries. Coconut oil helps in boosting energy, endurance, and enhances athletic performance.

You can find coconut oil at any health food store. Look for the unrefined, virgin, or organic variety.

Training Tip:

Turn on Your Nervous System
People often don’t realize the power of their nervous system. Think of it as the wiring in your body with the brain being the motherboard or main controller.  It has direct control over our muscles, and this means it is very important to ensure it is turned on before starting any strenuous exercise.

If you get out of bed and head to the gym (early morning boot camp) and you’re still half asleep or come straight from a sedentary job, you need to power up the nervous system.
A sluggish nervous system will impede your ability to recruit more muscle fibres which in turn decreases your work capacity (think--less work).
Things that you can do to turn it on include performing activities that force you to coordinate movements in a repetitive manner. Examples would be using a skipping rope or running through an agility ladder.

 Maki Performance Training: A Testimonial

I used to workout at a community centre in Richmond and watched as some personal trainers trained their clients. Most of the trainers were showing their clients the same routine over and over again, but I noticed one trainer showing each of his clients a different routine, which definitely caught my eye.  Maki was that trainer and later, when I finally made the decision to start properly taking care of my body.

Many of my colleagues and friends keep telling me that I look great and so different from "BM" (before Maki). I have before and "later" (6 months after starting to train with Maki) pictures. The results were striking. My entire body is more toned, muscles are more pronounced, my posture changed entirely, I lost 2 dress sizes and I can actually see a waistline.
I love that Maki takes the time to diversify the training on a regular basis; it makes working out so much more enjoyable. Maki is very patient and encouraging with his clients, while at the same time always expecting them to give their best. I love it that my energy level has increased tremendously and that people almost half my age have trouble keeping up with me!
