All of my clients are dedicated to building a better body. In order for me to work with you I ask that you show up on time, train hard, follow all my instructions, make a commitment to train with me for a period of time and make up all missed appointments. If you do this I can guarantee you the results that you are looking for. It's that simple!
At Maki Performance Training I do my best not to discriminate. Especiallywhen it comes to the age of a client and their capabilities during a workout.
I plan on being very active when I am in my golden years, and by making sure I train in a safe and effective manner which maximizes my fitness capacity (barring any unforseen circumstance) I strive to never let age be used as an excuse. In fact I will use it as a source of motivation to fuel my workouts and train harder.
Don't get me wrong, as we age we should be aware that our ability to do things with efficiency decreases. However, don't get caught up mistaking this as a sign that you are unableto achieve your fitnes goals.
If there is a will, there is a way.
Pleae watch the video below, and then think twice before you use age as an excuse.
Sometimes I find myself questioning why I spend long hours training people. It's easy to forget when you've been doing it for so long. Then I receive an email from a client and I remember why I started in this business.
Hey Maki,
I just wanted to tell you that you've really made a difference in my life... I went from hating exercise, to really looking forward to it... I feel so awesome after my Monday workouts and I actually have fitness goals now. I have more energy and feel happier too...
Thank you!

She's not an athlete, or someone who wants to drop 20 pounds. She is someone who found me over the Internet and knew that I could help her look at exercise in a different way. I'm glad she is going to make fitness a part of her life.
Here's an email I received from a client who shared some of her goals with me. I encourage everyone to share their goals with somebody. It does help.
Funny when I got this inspirational piece I had just got my calendar out and penciled in my goals/plans. Guess they should be in ink! But it was done. My New Year starts on a Monday every year. My rational is “the last weekend fling with the fridge”. Monday back to reality. So my goals/classes are set.
Then I get the next inspirational segment (polite talk for guilt ridden jab) but not to worry, I’m on track. Just like you I was tired after work but I worked out anyways. Okay slightly different, I went to work, called my dentist and had a tooth pulled by noon on Monday, laid whining on the couch with Oprah, Ellen and Rachael Ray until six and went to my first yoga class. Yoga is like watching paint dry from different angles/positions but I will give it try.
I had to quit my swimming each morning after 25 years (due to traffic I’m down to 15 minutes) to get to work on time. Yoga, Monday and Thursdays nights replace that, Thompson on one week day and Sunday mornings and then my all time favorite, Maki morning, Saturday.
There are also food diet plans. I’m giving up wine and starting to drink coffee, again so sad.
It's been four days since the New Year. How many times have you worked out, have you cheated on your nutrition already, or did you skip a workout?
I completed my first workout last night, now I only have three hundred and eleven workouts left in 2010.
Every Monday and Wednesday evening after working a 15 hour day I train myself. Most of the time I have to really psyche myself up before my workout because I usually want to go home and relax with my wife. Knowing that I might cave in and skip my training session I have asked my brother to workout with me. Now it's a bit more difficult to pass on my workouts.
Last night we trained fairly hard for our first workout. We performed heavy front squats followed by some arm training and some upper body plyometric work. To finish things off we boxed for 30 minutes. It was great until my brother punched me in the mouth and I bit my tongue pretty hard.
The point I'm trying to make, is that we all want to accomplish things in the New Year. But how badly do you want it, enough that you have already started taking steps towards your goal? Or are you procrastinating already?
Cardio kick boxing starts today at 6 pm.
The first fitness boot camp of the 2010 starts this Friday January the 8th at 6 am.

"I have been working out with Maki for the past 3 1/2 years. I first started as an injured runner needing to find other ways to keep fit. I am amazed at the results and have since realized the importance of complete fitness from Maki's guidance. He is always changing and adapting workouts to my personal needs while pushing me to my fullest potential. I am so much stronger than when I first began this regular weekly workout and always look forward to the new ways Maki helps me to maintain my fitness level."
