Networking Resources

As trainers, coaches and therapists, one of the most valuable resources we have at our disposal is one another. We should be interacting more often with one another as we   have something to learn from and teach one another. It is very important for us as professionals to be able to know when to refer away when we overstep our area of expertise. Building a network of qualified professionals who can deal with the variety of ailments that a client may be suffering from is just one way of helping them.

Below are a group of knowledgeable and experienced therapists and doctors who are more then qualified to deal with any problem that lies outside the strength and conditioning realm that I deal in.

 Darren Shane (Yoga Instructor)

Image Darren Shane has been a Personal Fitness Trainer in Canada and Japan for the past six years. For him, fitness and commitment to healthy living have been a part of his lifestyle for many years. Playing in high level competitive sports such as ice hockey, baseball, and soccer have been just a few of the sports that have made up his regiment of personal fitness over the years. In addition to strength training, Darren regularly goes cycling, running, dancing and hikes the Grouse Grind, which have all complimented his overall level of fitness. More recently, Darren has incorporated Yoga as a way of bringing Balance, Strength, Flexibility, Meditation and Movement together.

In his work with his clients, he brings the same commitment, passion, and energy on a daily basis. Darren’s workouts with his clients are characterized by a variety of cardio and strength training routines, functional training using stability tools and balance balls, kickboxing with heavy bags and hand targets, yoga, stretching, nutrition guidance, and building a bond of trust and friendship. Darren is also the co-founder, and C.E.O. of Ripcords™ exercise bands (www.ripcords.com).

Above all, he believes a positive attitude towards life, a commitment towards one’s well-being, and maintaining a healthy balance between work and leisure is paramount.

It seems to me that people have vast potential. Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don't. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever.
